vs RHB as LHP

Someone tweeted today saying "Having three left-handed relievers might not actually be a good thing. Weakens your options against strong RHB, though MLB is weak there" He was talking about Miller, Wilson, and Shreve just acquired by the Yankees.

Well, I just read an article saying Shreve who stands on the right side of the rubber does not give right-handed hitters a good look thus pitches well against them. I looked up the stats of Miller, Wilson, and Shreve against RHB, and the opponent hitters hit just 51 for 292 (.175 batting average) against them.

I went on and found a list of LHP, with GS <=5 and IP >= 10 in 2014, and sorted by the batting average against. Miller, Shreve, and Wilson were ranked 2nd, 6th, and 16th, respectively.

A group of solid relievers I see. Jacob Lindgren can be added, too. I guess Girardi doesn't have to worry too much about when to use his lefties in the pen.

프란시스코 서벨리 <> 저스틴 윌슨 트레이드

양키스가 포수뎁스가 두터운건 익히 알려진 사실이었고, 트레이드가 이뤄질 것은 어느 정도 예상이 된 일이었습니다. 특히 프랜시스코 서벨리는 햄스트링 부상으로 두 달 이상 결장했지만, 건강했을때는 썩 괜찮은 방망이를 보여주면서 (.301/.370/.432 타/출/장) 자신의 존재가치를 과시하였는데요, 오늘 양키스는 파이어리츠에 서벨리를 주고 좌완불펜투수 윌슨을 받아오는 트레이드를 단행했습니다.



새로 데려온 저스틴 윌슨은 27살이며 올해 파이어리츠에서 70경기에 등판해 3승 4패, 4.20의 평균자책점을 기록했을뿐이지만 작년에는 6승 1패, 2.08의 평균자책점을 기록했었습니다. 요즘 양키스는 맥카시 등 FIP이 평균자책점에 비해 높은 선수들을 관심있게 보고 데려와 재미를 좀 보고 있는데요, 윌슨의 평균자책점은 작년에 비해 올해 올라갔지만 FIP은 별 차이가 없는 점이 고려됐는지도 모르겠습니다. 올해 윌슨은 60이닝동안 61삼진을 잡았고, 왼손투수임에도 불구하고 우타자에게 더 강한 투수입니다. 올해 우타자 상대 피안타율은 .206이었습니다.

피츠버그는 러셀 마틴, 크리스 스튜어트에 이어 양키를 거쳐간 또 하나의 포수를 얻게 되었습니다. 건강하기만 하면 실력은 공수양면으로 괜찮은 선수니 피츠버그에서도 잘해줘서 윈윈 트레이드가 되었으면 좋겠습니다.
