양키스 영구결번
최근 양키스는 앤디 페팃의 등번호를 영구결번시킨다고 발표했다. 재작년에 마리아노 리베라의 42번을, 작년에 조 토레의 6번을 영구결번시킨데 이어 올해는 페팃의 46번과 더불어 버니 윌리엄스의 51번, 호르헤 포사다의 20번을 영구결번시킬 예정이다. 이로써 양키스는 전구단 상대 영구결번인 재키 로빈슨을 제외하고도 20명이 넘는 선수의 등번호를 영구결번으로 지정, 카디널스 (14), 자이언츠 (13), 레즈 (13)를 제치고 메이저리그에서 단연 가장 많은 영구결번을 보유하고 있다. 과연 양키스에서는 몇 명이나 영구결번이 되었는지, 또 어떤 선수와 감독들이 영구결번의 영광을 차지했는지 알아보도록 하자.

양키스 스프링캠프 초청된 선수들 자세히 살펴보기

투수들과 포수들은 이제 4일후면 스프링트레이닝에 합류하고, 양키스의 로스터에 들어있는 40인과 더불어 27명의 선수가 추가로 초청된다. 이들중 대다수는 어린 유망주들이거나, 오랜 마이너리거, 혹은 마지막으로 메이저리그 로스터에 한 번 더 도전하는 베테랑들이다. (빅리거였던 CJ 니코스키가 이에 관련해 좋은 글을 썼었다.) 아마 이 선수들이 2015년에 양키스에 뭔가 임팩트를 남길 확률은 높지 않다고 봐야할것이다.
하지만, 작년의 초청선수 양거비스 솔라테가 그랬듯, 이따금씩 누군가 갑자기 툭 튀어나와 활약을 하곤 한다. 그래서 이 선수들이 스프링트레이닝에 도착하기 전에, 양키스팬들은 이 선수들이 어떤 선수들인지 한 번 알아보는 것도 좋을 것 같다.

남겨진 자들
강정호 선수의 새로운 팀메이트, 해적선장 맥커친의 글입니다. 재키 로빈슨 팀의 실격 소식을 처음 접했을 땐 어른들이 성적지상주의에 빠져 꼼수를 부렸구나.. 정도만 생각했었는데 생각치도 못한 부분을 지적해 준 좋은 글이네요. 원문은 이 곳에서 보실 수 있습니다.
이번 주, 한 무리의 12살 어린이들이 가슴에 큰 상처를 입었습니다. 시카고 남부의 재키 로빈슨 웨스트 팀은 (시카고 남부지역은 범죄발생률이 높은 빈민지역으로 알려져 있습니다 *역주) 2014년의 리틀리그 월드시리즈에서 미국 지역 우승을 차지했습니다. 정말 극적인 명승부였죠. 재키 로빈슨 팀의 투수는 결승전에서 네바다 팀을 상대로 역전홈런을 허용하고는 마운드에서 고개를 푹 숙인채 금방이라도 무너져 내릴 것 같아 보였습니다. 하지만 그의 팀은 추격을 거듭해 결국 믿기 힘든 역전승을 일궈냈고, 마지막 아웃을 잡았을 때 기쁨이 가득한 그 소년의 그 얼굴 표정은, 부러운 마음을 불러일으킬 정도였습니다.
우승의 기쁨을 나누는 동안, 카메라는 사람들이 응원을 하기 위해 모인 시카고 남부의 한 체육관을 비췄고, 그들은 이 아이들과 그들의 지역사회를 열렬히 응원하는 모습을 보여줬습니다. 제가 사랑하는 이 스포츠가 아직 이런 빈곤한 지역에서도 인기가 있다는 사실이 참 좋았습니다.
그러던 수요일, 재키 로빈슨 웨스트 팀은 "외부 지역"에 거주하는 선수들을 기용했다는 이유로 우승을 박탈당했습니다. 정확히 무슨 일이 일어났는지에 대해 갑론을박이 있지만, 제게 한 가지는 확실했습니다. 이 일은 굉장히 복잡한 문제에 한줄기 빛을 비췄다는 것입니다. 그 전의 야구는 방망이와 공만 있으면 되는 스포츠였습니다. 가난한 어린이들이 가난을 벗을 수 있는 탈출구였죠. 하지만 이제 야구는, 경기를 하러 멀리 떠나는 경비를 뒷받침해주지 못하는 부모를 둔 아이들을 점점 멀어지게 만드는 스포츠가 되어갑니다.

Five Facts: Andy Pettitte
Here are five facts about one of my favorite Yankee, Andy Pettitte.

1. Andy Pettitte is MLB's All-time postseason wins leader, 19.
John Smoltz is the second with 15, Tom Glavine is the third with 14. CC Sabathia is the leader among active pitchers with 9, followed by Justin Verlander, Cliff Lee, John Lackey, Cole Hamels, and Madison Bumgarner (?!) all with 7.
2. Once threw this as his two-strike pitch: knuckle ball.
It is in this article from 2010. Posada is not known for his catching, so it is not so hard to imagine that Posada had a trouble catching Pettitte's knuckle balls. In the article, it says that Pettitte used a knuckle ball briefly when in minors then coaches told him to cut it out, so he forgot how to throw it.
3. First pitched to Jorge Posada in 1992, last pitched to Jorge Posada in 2010.
We are so lucky to have both of you on the team for the long period of time.

12) Eric Jagielo, 3B, Grade B-/Borderline C+: Age 22, hit .259/.354/.460 in Florida State League, which is strong production for context (wRC+132). Power is real, but platoon issues and defense could make him more of a role player than long-term regular.
13) Domingo German, RHP, Grade C+/Borderline B-: Age 22, acquired this winter from Marlins, posted 2.48 ERA with 113/25 K/BB in 123 innings in Low-A. Low-90s fastball, good change-up, throws strikes, breaking stuff draws mixed reviews and will be main focus of improvement as he moves up. Mid-rotation upside if that comes together.
14) Jose Ramirez, RHP, Grade C+: Age 25, amazing pure stuff with mid/upper-90s heat but command issues and nagging injuries hold him back, 1.46 ERA with 16/10 K/BB in 12 innings in Triple-A, 5.40 ERA with 10/7 K/BB in 10 big league innings. Middle relief profile with closer possibilities if he can develop more consistency.
15) Bryan Mitchell, RHP, Grade C+: Age 23, 4.37 ERA with 94/45 K/BB in 103 innings between Double-A and Triple-A. Another low/mid-90s arm, sometimes higher, curve, change-up, and cutter all have potential but shaky command gives him an erratic track record. Mid-rotation slot possible if command improves, if not he’ll head to the bullpen.
16) Jake Cave, OF, Grade C+: Age 22, hit .294/.351/.414 between High-A and Double-A, something of a tweener perhaps without huge power or speed but featuring decent pure hitting skills, hustle, outfield versatility. Fourth outfielder profile.

Very aggressive approach, however, and miniscule walk rate is a caution flag for higher level adjustment. If he transitions well to full-season ball will advance up the list quickly.
19) Ty Hensley, RHP, Grade C+: Age 21, first round pick from 2012 has been slowed by hip labrum injuries but performed well in 31 innings in short-season ball last year, 2.93 ERA with 40/11 K/BB. Can hit mid-90s with strong curveball, needs innings to solidify his change-up and overall sense of command but has one of the highest ceilings in the system. Mid-rotation potential or maybe a bullpen option if durability remains an issue.
20) Austin DeCarr, RHP, Grade C+: Age 19, third round pick in 2014, posted 4.63 ERA with 24/7 K/BB in 23 innings in rookie ball. Sturdy 6-3, 220 build with low/mid-90s fastball, impressive curve. While the Yankees farm system is not at the very top of the organization rankings,it has improved over the last couple of years, should continue to improve, and certainly rates as an upper-tier system. The large amount of Grade C+ talent gives depth and since much of that talent is quite young and projectable with potentially higher grades to come, there is a lot to look forward to.
The big news in 2014 was massive investment in the international market. The Yankees broke through the bonus limits to sign a highly-impressive class including shortstop Wilkerman Garcia, catcher Miguel Flames (great name), shortstops Diego Castillo and Nelson Gomez, and outfielders Juan De Leon, Bryan Emery, Antonio Arias, and Jonathan Amundaray. Those guys haven’t played yet and given the historic volatility of international signees it is best to be cautious at this point.. Many times the big bonus guys bust while lower bonus players develop unexpectedly.
For example, the best prospect in the system is right-hander Luis Severino, who got a $225,000 bonus in 2011. Impressive shortstop prospect Jorge Mateo got the same money, $225,000 in 2010. The Yankees have not eschewed lower bonus players of course and the 2014 signings do show their renewed commitment to farm development.
Among talents who have played, Severino is the best overall pitching prospect though he could be beaten to the majors by 2014 second rounder Jacob Lindgren. Jose Ramirez and Bryan Mitchell bring quality stuff to the cusp of the majors as well as questions about their roles. There are some potential four/five starters and other arms looking for bullpen work. The Yankees always seem to have a group of steady C/C+ type prospects, often from the college ranks, looking to slot in as Shane Greene or David Phelps (both since traded) style useful utility arms. Trade acquisition Domingo German could be a steal.
Offensive depth is provided by Aaron Judge, Greg Bird, and the very intriguing Rob Refsnyder. Gary Sanchez is rather enigmatic but if he can’t break through Luis Torrens is the next big catching prospect and should provide a better balance of offense and defense based on the early returns. There are a large number of potential role players and as mentioned the 2014 international class could provide a lot of firepower if even a third of those guys reach their upside.

In 206 career Major League relief appearances with Oakland (2009-11) and Boston (2012-13), he has gone 11-12 with 89 saves, a 2.64 ERA (218.0IP, 64ER) and 227K. Bailey was born in Voorhees, N.J. and graduated from Wagner College (N.Y.). He was selected by the Athletics in the sixth round of the 2006 First-Year Player Draft.
RHP Luis Severino earned an invitation after combining to go 6-5 with a 2.46 ERA (113.1IP, 31ER) and 127K in 24 starts with Single-A Charleston, Single-A Tampa and Double-A Trenton in 2014. Following the season, during which he led all Yankees minor league pitchers in strikeouts, he was named the Yankees' top prospect by Baseball America. Lindgren made his professional debut after being drafted, combining to go 2-1 with one save, a 2.16 ERA (25.0IP, 6ER) and 48K in 19 relief appearances with the GCL Yankees, Single-A Charleston, Single-A Tampa and Double-A Trenton. Following the season, he was tabbed by Baseball America as the Yankees' eighth-best prospect. The left-handed batter enters the 2015 season tabbed by Baseball America as the fourth-best prospect in the Yankees organization. Refsnyder, who was born in Seoul, South Korea, combined with Double-A Trenton and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to bat .318 (164-for-515) with 82R, 14HR and 63RBI in 137 games in 2014, ranking third among Yankees minor leaguers in batting average. He attended the University of Arizona and finished the season ranked as the Yankees' seventh-best prospect by Baseball America.

His name is Johannes and he played in Honkbal Hoofdklasse.
2. Named a Knight of the order of Orange-Nassau in 2011.
According to Mike Vorkunov of nj.com, the Netherlands team won the 2011 IBAF Baseball World Cup, and each player on the team was knighted in Curaçao instead of getting money as a reward.
3. Biggest hobby off the field: Art.
This is quite good.

그랬더니 대답이 이렇게 왔습니다.
그는 달리기가 빠르고, 라인드라이브 타구를 때려내는 타자며 계속 유격수 자리를 지킬 것으로 예상됩니다. (지켜보기에) 흥미진진한 선수지만 아직 18살이고 메이저리그까지는 아직 몇 년이 더 걸릴겁니다. 미국에서 뛴 기록이 없기 때문에 자세한 리포트는 쓰지 않을 것이지만 팬그래프에서 더 많은 정보를 얻으 실수 있습니다.
