Starting a season with 0-12 record

Philadelphia 76ers lost again yesterday, dropping their records to 0-12. I was curious how common this is in NBA and in MLB.

With some help from the Play Index at baseball-reference.com and basketball-reference.com, there have been five teams in baseball and at least ten teams in basketball which lost their first twelve games of the season.

1871 Rockford Forest Citys 0-16
1875 New Haven Elm Citys 0-15
1920 Detroit Tigers 0-13
1988 Baltimore Orioles 0-21
1997 Chicago Cubs 0-14

1949 Denver Nuggets 0-15
1970 Cleveland Cavaliers 0-15
1973 Philadelphia 76ers 0-15
1988 Miami Heat 0-17
1994 LA Clippers 0-16
1997 Denver Nuggets 0-12
1998 LA Clippers 0-17
2009 New Jersey Nets 0-18
2012 Washington Wizards 0-12
2014 Philadelphia 76ers 0-12+

76ers' next game is against the Knicks today. Let's see if they can stop the bleeding.
